Childcare Training for Senior Students

Nyangatjatjara College will partner with RedPath Education to deliver a vocational education childcare course in 2016. From next year Tony Spencer of RedPath will partner with the College to provide training for Certificate I & II in Early Childhood Education and Care. It is envisaged that there will be training at central campus and some placement work at Yulara Childcare, as well as work experience undertaken in the Childcare centres of the students' home communities.

"This is an exciting project for us because Childcare training is a genuine work pathway in a region where employment opportunities are limited," said Chris Harvey, CEO/Principal Nyangatjatjara College. "Many of our senior girls in particular show a lot of aptitude in this area, so it is a great opportunity for them to gain formal accreditation.

"We have worked with Tony and his team before, and they are very experienced with teaching Anangu students and always deliver a high-quality program. This training will be available to senior students in Imanpa, Docker River and Mutitjulu. We anticipate it commencing at the start of next year."
